University of Idaho’s Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival (LHJF) is one of the largest and oldest educational jazz festivals in the world. Grounded in tradition and breaking new ground, it continues Lionel Hampton’s vision of celebrating jazz through music education.

• Evening concerts:four nights of jazz with legendary performers, outstanding student competitors and Lionel Hampton School of Music ensembles at the Administration Auditorium and ICCU Arena.
• Workshops and clinics:nearly 100 workshops, clinics and special exhibits; renowned artists and educators lead sessions on jazz music, dance and more. These events are free and open to all.
• Competitive student performances:vocal and instrumental entries; student performances take place all over campus and do not require tickets.
• Jazz in the Schools (JIS):year-round outreach taking jazz into classrooms throughout the Northwest.
