Stockholm and Malardalen are home to half of Sweden's residents, and the growth rate is expected continue to be rapid. A reliable and robust water and sewer infrastructure will be key to a sustainable and safe regional development. The future new and reinvestments into the VA networks will be large, and community building must involve many different players. Stockholmsmassan has launched Sweden Water Expo to meet these needs. This new regional and industry wide trade fair will be a meeting place and a venue for VA sector. Its premiere is scheduled for 16-17 September, 2026.
The venture is receiving great support from several key stakeholders. Stockholm Vatten och Avfall is the first to be announced as a partner. This country's largest VA company welcomes the investment into a new meeting space in Stockholm and Malardalen.Investments in municipal water and sewerage facilities will amount to more than SEK500 billion by 2040 (Source: Svenskt Vatten). More than half of the staggering sum is needed to reinvest in old water treatment plants and worn out pipes. In the fast-growing areas of the country, there is a need for extensive investments.- Future investments will be made in the region's water and sewerage networks. These must go hand in glove with innovation and competence development. Stockholm is the largest VA market in Sweden. Due to our proximity to regional and national decision makers and authority figures, we believe that Sweden Water Expo can have a significant impact on exhibitors.
